Health Benefits
One of the most vital components of Irene Wortham Center’s total compensation package is health care insurance. That’s why Irene Wortham Center is pleased to provide plans that address a variety of health coverage needs. Whatever your priorities are: coverage, confidence or cost – our plans will help you meet your requirements.

Medical
We offer managed care plans through Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC (BCBSNC). Our plans offer flexible options, such as:
•    Dependent coverage – you can cover your spouse and/or your dependent children
•    Opt out – participation is not required
•    Annual enrollment – you can make new choices each year

Our plans cover comprehensive medical services, including:
•    Doctor and hospital visits, including maternity and well-baby care
•    Prescription drugs
•    Vision and hearing
•    Emergency care

We subsidize a significant portion of the cost for medical coverage. You pay your portion on a pre-tax basis, which reduces your income subject to taxes.

Dental
Our dental plan provides 100% coverage for preventive dental care, including semi-annual exams and cleanings. Fillings, crowns, and other dental services are also covered, subject to modest deductibles, and co-insurance.

Just like the medical plans, you choose whether to participate and who you want to cover. We subsidize the cost for dental coverage for you and your covered dependents.

125 Reimbursement Plan
While our plans are comprehensive and the company subsidy is substantial, you will have some out-of-pocket costs for services you receive, such as co-payments for dental and vision services. If you choose, you can use the 125 Reimbursement Plan to pay for these expenses as well as dependent childcare or non-reimbursed medical expenses. This pre-tax deferral reduces your income subject to Federal and most state income tax. After you have incurred a covered expense, you can file for reimbursement from your own account to cover your out-of-pocket costs.

Free Life Insurance Plan

We provide a basic life insurance plan at no cost when you enroll in our medical plan.

Short Term Disability
If you were to become sick or disabled tomorrow and were unable to work for two or three months, would you have enough savings to cover your living expenses during that time? We provide short term disability insurance when you enroll in our medical plan.  This insurance helps you maintain your standard of living and pay your bills for a period of time while you are unable to work.
