The Adult Day Activity Program emphasizes the dignity and individuality of each person. It provides a comfortable and flexible atmosphere that encourages personal achievement and growth as well as productivity.
The program provides a unique balance of activities that promote an optimal level of independence in daily living and offers socialization and interaction on an individual and group level. Trained and experienced staff strive to provide a variety of program activities including art and music therapy, cooking lessons, and inclusive community activities such as: concerts, festivals, and volunteer opportunities. Compensatory Education is provided daily under the guidance of Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College.
IWC is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a CARF Three-Year Accreditation for our ADA and Supported Employment programs.
New Facility
We are so pleased to announce that we recently broke ground on a new ADA building! Currently, the program is housed
in two adjoining structures located next to each other on Azalea Street in the
Shiloh community. One, a 2,300 square
foot, single story wood structure was built in 1989. A 700 square foot temporary mobile unit was
put into service in the mid 1990’s. Both
structures, while maintained frequently, have reached the extreme end of their
capabilities to serve our needs.
The new
facility will be a 7,000 square foot structure designed by Bowers, Ellis, and
Watson of Asheville with the needs of our participants and staff in mind. Local contractor, Goforth Builders, will be
constructing the state-of-the-art facility.
Funding for the project comes in part from the Janirve Foundation,
Hillsdale Fund, and other generous individual donors.
